Travis Scott has ignited fresh online outrage after footage surfaced of the rapper throwing water bottles at a working cameraman during a recent performance in New York City. The clip shows the artist deliberately tossing objects at a crew member’s back to force him out of the way.
In case you missed it, the viral video stems from an Amazon Music Night event held during the Nike TOMA National Final on 27 June. Circulated heavily on social media, the footage provides a rather blunt look at the musician’s backstage etiquette when he is not the one holding the camera.
Travis Scott Faces Backlash Over Viral New York Video
Scott is stationed behind a DJ booth while the crowd gets hyped up. Directly in front of him, a cameraman wearing a high-visibility yellow shirt is focussed entirely on filming the audience. Rather than tapping the man on the shoulder or stepping aside, Scott lobs a water bottle directly at him. When the first strike fails to register, he throws a second, and then a third. The cameraman only reacts after the third bottle is thrown, finally turning around with a confused look before shuffling out of frame as Scott gestures toward him.
It is a wild display of entitlement, and observers on X tore into the rapper for targeting someone actively on the clock. One platform user wondered if getting rich naturally leads to a loss of humanity, writing, ‘Somebody should have thrown the bottle back at him. WTF does he thinks he is’. Another critic stripped the situation down to its core to ask, ‘WHY TF Travis couldn’t move? That man is WORKING! That was rude, and childish AF!’
The sentiment echoed widely across the platform. One commentator expressed surprise that an exposé documentary has not been produced yet, given how frequently the public sees him acting poorly. The sheer arrogance of the act left many frustrated, with another user stating he has ‘always been an ahole to people’, while a separate poster simply labelled him ‘a fking tool’.

Travis Scott and a 2024 Paris Arrest Highlight a Troubling Pattern
This is hardly an isolated bad night. The New York clip feeds into a recurring narrative surrounding Travis Scott and his interactions with working staff. To recall, a similar situation played out in 2024 when the rapper spent a Friday night in French police custody. He was in Paris for the Olympics when a dispute broke out at the luxury George V Hotel.
Authorities apprehended the artist for alleged violence against a security guard. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the guard had intervened in an altercation between the rapper and his bodyguard. The police custody order was eventually lifted and proceedings dropped, with officials deeming the incident ‘minor’.
A minor legal brush, perhaps, but the optics paint a flawed picture. In 2024, it was a hospitality worker attempting to maintain safety. Now, it is a cameraman scanning a dark room.
