Phoebe Bridgers covered The Handsome Family’s “So Much Wine” with the help of her rumored fiance Paul Mescal, and this is their first duet.
The couple wanted to commemorate Christmas and the spirit of giving by singing a Christmas song duet and donating the proceeds to the community.
According to Billboard, the proceeds from the cover song will benefit the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The center, according to their website, offers programs and services to the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community.
Their work, founded in 1969, is primarily divided into four categories: health, social services, housing, leadership, and advocacy. It has received numerous awards for its work and dedication to the LGBT community.
According to reports, the Los Angeles LGBT Center also specializes in substance abuse and HIV treatment.
According to the Economic Times, Bridgers is not the first artist to collaborate with a charity or to donate proceeds from her songs to charitable organizations. She is carrying on the family tradition.
This is Bridger’s fourth year of releasing holiday albums. In 2019, she released a cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “7 O’Clock News / Silent Night” with Fiona Apple and Matt Berninger, followed by a cover of Merle Haggard’s “If We Make It Through December” and a cover of Tom Waits’ “Day After Tomorrow” in 2021.
According to Nylon, Bridgers produced the 2000s song with Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska, two of her longtime collaborators. As featured artists, Marshall Vore, Harrison Whitford, and Mescal were all listed.
Bridgers is a Pasadena, California-based singer-songwriter. Her debut album, “Stranger in the Alps,” received critical acclaim, and her sophomore album, “Punisher,” catapulted her into the mainstream music spotlight.
She received four Grammy nominations in 2021, including Best New Artist, Best Alternative Music Album for “Punisher,” Best Rock Performance, and Best Rock Song for “Kyoto.”
Bridgers and Mescal were recently reported to be engaged following an interview by the latter, but neither has officially announced it.
The couple allegedly met through a brief but hilarious Twitter interaction, which led to the pair continuing their flirtatious conversations on Instagram and eventually falling in love.
Although the engagement has yet to be confirmed, fans are overjoyed for the couple and can’t stop gushing about how they met.
